When I said that we need to take responsibility for ensuring that we do not participate in the sexual exploitation of minors, I was NOT:

1. Implying that children do not have sexual feelings or desires.

2. That children are wrong for having sexual feelings or desires.

3. That children having consensual, non-abusive sexual contact with their peers (in maturity AND age) is wrong.

It is extremely telling that when people make these sorts of unfounded accusations, they invariably tack on something about how they personally, as an adult, would happily have sex or or otherwise jack off to kids if they deemed those kids “emotionally mature”. This little follow-up demonstrates pretty fucking clearly that they are not so much concerned about recognizing the humanness of children and teenagers as they are about trying to convince others that their desire to exploit the underaged is rooted in respect for their victims, respect that the rest of us are too “sex negative” to possess. It’s a remarkably successful tactic, especially in online communities whose members are terrified of looking close-minded.

I spent two years investigating child abuse. Before that time, I did try to engage this nonsense as though it were  a legitimate argument. After that? Fuck you, hell no. This idea that society is just too darn concerned with protecting children is absurd. Kids get raped and exploited every goddamn second and most people look away. There is a need to talk about kid’s sexuality in a way that validates it as normal; the fact that we pretend it does not exist is responsible in many ways for exploitation and suffering. However, this does not in any way involve permitting adults to have sexual contact with kids, or consume or make pornography and erotica of children, and anyone who entertains the idea is a goddamn monster. I don’t care if the porn is fake. I don’t care if the kid is a child genius who is ready to prepare a 30-page statement stating that they want to let this creepy grown-ass adult feel them up. I do not give a flying fuck about justifying my feelings on the matter, because I do not care about explaining why I am opposed to rape culture, and why I am opposed to the idea that preventing adults from preying on children is equivalent to punishing children for having sexual feelings. And yes, if I ever find out who any of you are in real life, I will find a way to ensure the people around you know. That’s the kind of anti-child-fucking bitch I am.
