I feel like I’m the only person who saw Tara making out with Pam on True Blood last night and thought “can she never catch a break?”

Pam’s been a complete asshole to Tara for weeks, including calling her a dog and a slave!, but I guess in the world of True Blood writers that’s just how flirting works

Why can’t Tara get together with someone who will be nice to her? Like get her together with Jessica, or bring back the kickboxer gf from last year, or idk anyone who hasn’t spent weeks being an often-racist asshole to her

Well, I really don’t understand what they are trying to do with this relationship between Pam and Tara. I thought maybe they were trying to give Pam her hard-ass act full on, allowing her to fall back on her insults as her protection and then come around as a more loving mother, insert something about learning from Eric blah blah blah… but even if that’s the case, and even if she turns around and gives Tara the love she needs… what the hell is the message? That it’s okay to be knowingly racist as long as you atone for it later? Or really care for the person underneath? This was and is continuing to get more and more ridiculous. I love the strong Tara from last season and now, but I don’t like it being tied to to rage or tied to this enslavement with Pam.

"The story became outwardly supernatural tonight with the reveal that an Islamic supernatural being called an ifrit was exacting revenge on the soldiers for what they did in Iraq. Despite being supernatural, however, it still feels like something out of an entirely different show. When doing such a political story, it feels almost necessary to make at least some commentary or put some context on the proceedings. As presented, this is pure exploitation, with the show using our own mental associations with real-life atrocities perpetrated by soldiers in order to fill in the blanks, then teaching everyone a lesson by having a fire and smoke monster kill everyone for kicks. It’s simply too heavy a story for True Blood, especially when mixed with the silly special effects of the monster."

The AV Club review of True Blood “Let’s Boot And Rally”

I hate hate hate this plotline so much. It is really inappropriate for this show to take on these themes and then cut to Sheriff Andy having sex with fairies or whatever. No one cares about Terry and his regrets about murdering innocent Iraqis.
